Last year, I had the fine opportunity to meet Anna Lund, a Danish architect working as a research assistant at The Institute of Planning at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture in Copenhagen – doing research on public space. She was in town researching green streets, and we had a great chance to discuss some of Portland’s interesting stormwater infrastructure. Her article also includes interviews with landscape architects Tom Liptan (formerly of BES), Mike Abbate (Portland Parks & Recreation), and urban planner Arun Jain, so nice company indeed.
Anna was nice enough to send me a copy now that it has been published in the Danish architectural magazine Arkitekten (The Architect) as a part of the theme “The water in the city”.
It’s a bit rough through the translator – but it was good to give a shout out to the great work that Verde, City of Portland, and other groups are doing locally – showing that although we are compared to a European city often – sometimes we are the ones leading this charge.
