“The designation terra firma (firm, not changing; fixed and definite) gives way in favor of the shifting processes coursing through and across the urban field: terra fluxus.

- James Corner (quoted in Waldheim, The Landscape Urbanism Reader, 2006)

The name TERRA.fluxus is taken from the essay on the subject  by James Corner, with utmost respect.  In looking for a concept that best captured the essence of the type of work to focus, I always return to the concepts within for guidance. Elaborating on this concept becomes the seed for the work which is directly inspired by the teachings and theoretical work around landscape urbanism. The concepts envision an expanded field of landscape architecture that is broad in scope and no longer relegated to realm of decoration – landscape and urbanism. This includes interventions within space that are fluid, changing, and adaptable to a range of futures – both sociological and ecological.  More on the philosophy that influences our work is found in this inspirational quote by Waldheim from the The Landscape Urbanism Reader.
